Nut Capped Natural Acorn Cookies

SDB Nut Natural Acorn_ acorn beauty 5 stack lr

I have been loving this adorable lil’ acorn cookie cutter by CopperGifts for years. This year I was inspired to ice it in a more natural way. Colors, candy, hearts and fun will always be my signature but I’ve been working on some projects with Whole Foods and their requirements have forced me to get creative with my icing coloring process. I love the results! Here’s how I iced this nutty, natural, acorn cookie…

Make easy royal icing by adding milk to confectioners sugar. Here have 1 Cup of confectioners sugar in my bowl and I started by adding 1 tablespoon of 2% milk. (I only used 2% because its what I had- whole milk is what I would usually use.)

Continue to add milk (by the teaspoon) until you get the idea icing consistency- I always say its similar to craft glue consistency

You will need blanched sliced almonds, raw sugar, one thick SDB Icing Bottle, a toothpick, and a paper plate. I applied my almonds using our SDB Heart Applicator Tweezer but if you have small fingers you can go without. I have a tree nut allergy so when making these for myself, I will roast the almonds slightly which deactivates my allergy issue which is the almond skin. Note: if you have a more serious nut allergy make our M&M topped version of this cookie instead!
