Happy Birthday Bette Kane!
Bette Kane is no wallflower… She loves
singing and dancing and when asked what theme she wanted for her 4th birthday party she told her Mom “a music party where everybody sings”…
The invitation was easy enough to design. Amanda snapped a quick photo with her iPhone of Bette singing into her home microphone (one of her favorite toys).
I knew star
cookies were a must for this, but I also thought it would be super fun to do a microphone. Its one of those cookies that also doubles as an awesome prop and prop cookies are my fave!
Why yes, that is a GOLD microphone!
I felt it was extra good karma that the star cutters I used were vintage from Disneyland!
To enhance the Rock Star theme, we ordered a bunch of super fun blow up props from Oriental Trading…
…as well as amazing Rock Star glasses. Here’s Bette’s brother Donovan rocking the coolest chalkboard Paper Party hat from Target with his glasses.
Lakehouse Music Academy, where the party was held (and where Bette takes music classes) has such a cool look and feel. Our cake table looked awesome set up against one of the rustic walls in their lobby beneath a giant chalkboard.
Bette’s family is famous for their combo chocolate and vanilla birthday cakes. In this version we stacked a small chocolate atop a bigger vanilla and decorated it with star cookies and a microphone cake topper.
There was something for everyone on this cake table… the wrapped chocolate chip cookies are gluten free.
Before pizza and cake time though, the kids went up to the studio and did their rock star/ band thing! Amazing! Photo credit: Kevin Kane
Check Check! Is this thing on?!?!
We stuck with the black and white theme for table cloths and paper plates (Spritz for Target). We decorated the tables with the glasses, some signage that matched the invites, and Rock Star temporary tattoos.
Its reactions like this that make my job the most rewarding! Note Bette’s Grandma in the background holding a giant blow-up microphone- YES!!!
AMAZING candle blowout! Everybody sang and cheered!
…and as BetteK’s 4th birthday party came to a close, I couldn’t help but form my own sweet little group (introducing Pippa, JD and MaryCate!) and belt out one last tune!
Happy Birthday Bette Kane! May you always LOVE your birthday this much! You ROCK! XoXo Aunt Dan
