Stacked Lovebird Heart Cookie

All Valentine cookies must be extra delicious in my opinion… we are competing with chocolate after all! This stacked up cookie Valentine covers all bases. For even more flavor substitute buttercream for the royal icing “glue”… Here’s the how-to!

The cookie cutters we used were large heart + bubble heart + jellybean chicks (this mini cutter can be flipped and used both ways (genius idea by my fairy cookiemother).

Ice your cookie with gold icing (americolor makes the actual color gold but you can also mix a pale yellow)

Ice your cookie with gold icing (americolor makes the actual gel color gold but you can also mix a pale yellow). Once the icing is fully dry, paint with gold luster dust. See our blog post on luster dust here. We have found best results with lemon extract- however many other cookiers love the results of using everclear alcohol with luster dust.

Once your bubble heart is attached evenly, outline it with red royal icing. Then outline the larger heart and fill it in. Pop any air bubbles with a toothpick.

Add your candy border while the red icing is still wet. We used white M&Ms and red Jelly Bellies.

Add a dot of icing to the bubble heart where chick one and two are placed.

Let dry for 8 hours or overnight before packaging. Feel free to add even more candy to your box or cellophane bag!
