Margarita with “Salt” Cookie for Cinco de Mayo and Mom

When you are finished with your Cinco De Mayo feasting or your Mother’s Day brunch, wouldn’t it be sweet to munch into a margarita sugar cookie like this?

Here’s how to ice this margarita with “salt”…

With white royal icing in your SDB thick tip bottle, ice the drink outline and top of glass, leaving a generous cookie border...

While the white icing is still wet, fill in the green margarita... note: you can make colorful margaritas too like pink or orange!

Sprinkle drink with sanding sugar and let set.

Meanwhile select fruit slice candy... the regular version in bright colors...

Cut in 1/2 in the middle at a slight slant.

Add a double line in white icing at the top of the glass, add your fruit slice then sprinkle with course sanding sugar...

which happens to look just like a salted margarita rim!

Then add your glass base... we used goldish yellow.

...then pink. We love how the stripes look but also couldn't resist a little marbleizing here...

So we dragged a toothpick down 3 times and followed the curve outward at the bottom.
