Love in the Details: A Wedding in Texas

Ellie & Ben in Texas- the invite
Ellie & Ben in Texas- the invite

We were so excited to attend the Texas wedding of our friends, Ben and Ellie, that we planned a vacation around it. I was also honored to be asked by the bride and groom- to- be to work on a few of the wedding details. As the date got closer and closer I realized I’d have to pack my glue gun. “Can’t we ever just go somewhere without props and glitter and glue guns?!” said KF. What a silly question. 🙂

I was inspired by the invite seal to ice this Texas cookie with metallic gold coarse sanding sugar

Also in the welcome bag, the Ben Bar... inspired by the groom's appreciation for healthy food and granola and also a tribute England- where he is from
Also in the welcome bag, the “Ben Bar”… inspired by the groom’s appreciation for healthy food and granola. The tag (designed by KF) was a fun nod to England, where he was born and raised.

I shipped the cookies ahead then literally sped home to pack my bags…

I wasn't kidding about the glue gun.

After settling in at our hotel, I got right to work on the wedding cake topper which was inspired by a few past non cookie cake toppers I have done, and Pinterest.

Luckily KF is also an artist so I put him right to work...

...later on, I added the finishing touches.

I loved contributing these few special details to this beautiful wedding! Speaking of details, here are a few others I noted that made this wedding extra sweet!

Ellie's family ranch was a beautiful and perfect setting- the ceremony, set in a field on the ranch, highlighted the beauty of this natural setting
Ellie’s family ranch in Blanco, Texas, was a beautiful and perfect setting. The ceremony, set in a field on the ranch, highlighted the beauty of nature as well as everyone in attendance who surrounded the bride and groom in a half circle. Ben’s brother served as officiant- super sweet!
I loved how their natural wood wedding arch was fastened with bandannas and a good luck horseshoe.

The bar was set up in a rustic but amazing barn wood carport... I loved that they hung a chandalier from the tin ceiling!

This amazing antique- looking, rustic table doubles as a cooler- genius!

Navajo blanket covered haybails, made a perfect seating area at cocktail hour. One fashion detail I added- wearing a fascinator as a tribute to Ben's heritage. It was a little crazy in the setting but still fun!

So were the bride & groom!
Before we knew it, it was time to cut the cake! (That’s a carrot cake! YES!!!)
One last sweet detail before we danced into the night... Ellie's mom stamped the cake forks with one of their favorite quotes about love! (mine too). Ooooh! Carrot cake- YES!!!

Cheers to Ben and Ellie! I really enjoyed being part of and attending this amazing wedding where you truly could feel the love. All good things!  Xo Dani

  • Oh, my! Where to begin?!

First of all, you looked gorgeous sitting there on the haybale at the wedding! Second, the cake topper is just ah-dorable. I LOVE the Ben Bar – the lable KF created is genius (much like everything his wife creates!)

And, may I just say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the way you took over the hotel lobby! You never see people use hotel lobbys and YOU made great use of their space – that’s what it’s there for – GLUE GUNS and crafts and fun – so BRAVO, you!
