A Harvest Moon Wedding
Our besties, Tamara and Tom Dilworth, celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary last week. Tam and I, who have been friends since R.I.S.D., have always joked that she is the country mouse and I’m the city mouse (they live “in the woods” of Westchester County, New York). Their wedding, held in the Catskills, reflected their love of nature and the outdoors and could not have been a more perfect fit. The night of their wedding happened to fall on a beautiful Autumnal harvest moon and that is what inspired our paper goods and the wedding favor. Here are some of my favorite details from their big day…
Doodles of the harvest moon, stars, and a Catskills stream found next to the hotel were the icons I sketched to use on the wedding invite. Using twine and scrap booking tools, Tam and Tom attached the paper to pieces of bark we found in the flower market in NYC.
We also used the moon doodle on the program, which was echoed in a pink circular cover page… Doodles and descriptions of the bridal party were found on the inside along with “ceremony details” and other “points of interest”.
Our talented friend, Nomi Kleinman, a textiles artist, handcrafted these adorable “ring dogs” modeled after Tam and Tom’s beloved lab, Barley.
If you think its a lot of work to bake your own wedding favors you are right (!) but Tam and Tom’s homemade zucchini bread and jam wedding favor proved to be extra sweet as a result. Tam made all the “breads” using her signature recipe and zucchini from her Dad’s famous garden. Her Mom made the jams using fresh garden berries.
Guests were greeted with plentiful welcome baskets which were personalized and placed in each room. KF designed their signature T- shirt which many people wore to the after party. This basket included a fun squirrel toy for dog guest, Nellie. (The hotel was dog friendly, and all furry guests, Spot Fiori included, had a great time frolicking on the property)
Talented florist and friend from the Martha show, Aaron Caramanis, designed the most gorgeous bouquet and floral arrangements on Tam and Tom’s big day using bright pink and orange Gerbera daisies accented with green Kermit mums.
I loved how these big, beautiful bouquets reflected back to the circles.
Amazing chef and pastry chef, John Barricelli, (another friend from the Martha Show) made the most delicious, beautiful, oversized wedding cupcakes. We placed them on a cakestand that was made from stacked log pieces from a tree that had to be cut down in Tam’s parents yard. 8 years later I still remember how delish these cuppies were!
…and of course there were cookies! To this day, the Tamara, Tom & Barley cookie cake toppers remain a favorite!
This beautiful photo became their Thank You card (I framed it immediately)!
Happy Anniversary Tam & Tom! Here’s to many, many, many more! Xo Dani
