2012Brotherly Love: The Movie & The Cookies
Exciting things are happening in the life of our favorite movie maker- Mike Boylan! Last night at FilmOneFest (Atlantic Highlands, NJ’s One-Minute International Film Festival) his super short film, Brotherly Love, took home the first place jury prize! Check out the adorableness…
The minute I saw this movie I had the idea to make a fun cookie box based on child like drawings of its stars! I wanted them to be fun and doodle like. Using Coppergifts man and doll cookie cutters, I baked up my shapes…

It was a bit risky in the heat of summer but I baked the boy shapes in chocolate because I hadn’t made chocolate cookies in a while and they are delish!
After icing all the cookies white and adding jumbo candy red hearts, I let them dry overnight. Once they were dry, I set up in front of my laptop…
Using a black Americolor food coloring marker, I got to sketching. I love how black the line is that comes from this “pen”.

Unlike drawing a stick figure on paper, I found that sketching the shirt first was the best place to start… then body, then head, neck, hair, eyes and mouth.
The Americolor food coloring pen does need some time to dry/ set so be careful not to smear them. I let these sit for an hour before packaging.

Congratulations to Mike and the adorable stars of Brotherly Love: his sons, Tommy & Mikey and Samantha and Luke! Bravo!
Hooray for a SWEET win! We are so proud of you, Mike! Xo Dani
