You Tube is starting promote original programming more and more and since I can’t be on Martha’s show every time I design a new cookie, I thought it would be great to give some cookie segments a shot on my own.
Well, not exactly on my own… I have two very talented friends, Mike Boylan and Kevin Kane who are the owners of production company, McFly Productions. Since I hoped to have the segments to look as professional as possible, I enlisted their help.
When I was talking with Kevin (also a producer at CNBC) about shooting the segments he suggested we try out their new lighting rig and audio equipment. If there’s one thing I learned on the Martha show, lighting is so important! Mike explained what’s nice about having separate audio is that you can isolate noises and get rid of that echo-y effect that’s hard to avoid on home videos.
Meanwhile my co- stars were prepping for their segments.

Kathleen, Mikey and Tommy's Mom, helped me fill candy bowls for the candy bar (I love her lipstick color!)
We styled the counter (Mike’s newly re-modeled kitchen), using lots of cookies, bowls of Easter candy (Jellybeans, Robin’s Eggs, Bunny Corn) and an Easter cookie tree. The turquoise color of their kitchen really made everything pop!
The boys loved icing cookies! Jellybeans- also a huge hit (would you believe I had never tasted a jellybean before this shoot?)! What I loved about having the boys involved was that it demonstrates how much fun it can be to ice cookies together.

After icing a few cookies, Mikey decided he'd prefer to be involved behind the scenes which was awesome too... ACTION!
I think the boys stole the show- don’t you agree? I was thrilled with how the videos turned out and would love to do more! Thank you to Kevin, Mike, Kathleen, Mikey and Tommy!
