Anchors Aweigh! Baby Shower Cookies & Styling
My friend Kirsten had her baby boy, Jack Millan Powell, last week on March 2nd. Kir and Dan’s creativity spillith over as they say… Kir works as a crafter on the Martha Stewart Show and her husband, Dan, is the executive producer of the brilliant cartoon “Ugly Americans”. Considering both parents are uber- creative and Jack shares a b-day with the late great Dr. Seuss, I’m predicting a colorful, wonderful world for this adorable little guy!
Kir and Dan’s baby shower was one of the most fun I have ever been to. It was thrown “Jack and Jill” style by her friend, Janice, in the private room of Kir and Dan’s ‘favorite bar down the street’ and felt more like a warm and quaint happy hour than a shower.
As their friends toasted, chatted and enjoyed delish mini sandwiches Kir and Dan opened many adorable and thoughtful gifts.
Kir opens my gift, a cuddly Jellycat we decided to name after my bear, Ted!
I couldn’t have been more excited to provide the favors for this happy event! Kir and Dan decorated Jack’s nursery in a nautical theme so we wanted to reflect that in the favors.
As we tried to narrow down cookie shapes, Kir could not pass up the fish cookie (mostly due to googly eyes), and requested a whale as well (one of my favorite new cookies- so simple but still fun). I decorated the lighthouse cookie based on her favorite NJ shore lighthouse, “Old Barney” and we rounded out the order with some bright blue anchors (Kir’s signature icon). Very fun!
As always with assortment orders, I always find it “juice” to see what cookie each person chooses. As Martha crafter and Kir b.f.f., Figgy makes his decision, crafter Kristin St. Clair and her fiancee, Ashley debated over which cookies to take. I wasn’t surprised these two vegetarian animal lovers ended up choosing a whale and a fish!
Welcome to the world Baby Jack! I can hardly wait until you can eat your first cookie! Will it be a fish or a whale or a lighthouse…
